Japan, one of the world’s hottest travel destinations – a nation where traditional and hyper-modern culture coexist to reflect the charming mystique and an allure of the far east. Home to geisha, sumo, sushi, and Pokemon; travellers are constantly surprised and amazed at what this unique country has to offer.
You will be based in Osaka, Japan’s 3rd largest city, which is located in the south-western part of Japan’s main island, Honshu. Osaka is known for it’s friendly, industrious people, colourful dialect and delicious food. The city is a fantastic hub with easy access to other famous Japanese towns and areas such as Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Himeji via public transport.
The city offers plenty to do whether it is enjoying local dishes such as okonomiyaki, kushikatsu and takoyaki, belting out a famous tune at a karaoke bar, exploring the electronics, manga and anime shops of Den Den town or having a fun day out at Universal Studios. If you’re feeling really adventurous, catch a bullet train to Tokyo to experience quirky bars, robot restaurants and crazy nightlife of the city that never sleeps.
YMCA Global Study and Osaka YMCA offer a unique and immersive Japanese Language and Culture study tour during the January and July university breaks, check it out!
