We know that getting academic credit for either a core or elective subject is a big drawcard for many students wanting to study abroad, which is why we work with our local and international university partners to make transferring of academic credit as easy as possible. The process of getting approval for transferring credit can differ from university to university and is usually decided by your Head of School or Course Convenor.
To enable your university to make a decision regarding academic credit, you will need to provide them with a course syllabus, which you will get with your acceptance pack (Step 4).
How does the application process work?
Step 1: Apply Now
Click on the ‘Apply now’ link and complete the online application forms. This will give us the information we need to assess your eligibility for a program.
Step 2: Phone Interview
After you have completed the online application forms you will be prompted to book a time to have a telephone interview with one of our staff. Phone interviews are usually about 15 minutes and allow us to talk to you about your program choice, make sure all the information we have is correct, and talk you through the rest of the application process.
Step 3: Finalise your application
Once you have completed your participant interview, YMCA Global Study will send you an email with instructions detailing how to finalise your application.
Step 4: Receive your acceptance pack
Once your application has been approved, YMCA Global Study, we will send you an ‘Acceptance pack’. This pack will include important documents such as a course syllabus, acceptance letter from your host university and advice on how to apply for credit with your university. The pack may also include information on any funding specific to your university.
Step 5: Apply for credit (and funding if applicable)
Now you are ready to apply for credit and funding (woohoo!) – All the information you need will be in your acceptance pack. However, if you do need any extra help simply get in touch with our team and we will do what we can to point you in the right direction.
Step 6: Pay your deposit and secure your place
Once you have confirmed your credit transfer you are then ready to pay your deposit and secure your place. Remember that your deposit is non-refundable so if you are relying on obtaining credit or funding to participate then make sure you have written confirmation saying that you will be receiving both before you pay your deposit.
